This weekend I went camping for the first time ever, with my boyfriend and his friends.
We left on Friday afternoon & returned on Sunday afternoon.
I never knew that in one weekend so many things could go wrong...
Friday:
-I drop a bucket with a metal ring on my right foot
-We set up our tent to find one of the poles has broken on the trip up (turning it into a teepee looking thing)
-We go for a walk on the beach & my boyfriend slips & smacks his head on the rocks
-Saw Shannon's butt
Saturday:
-We wake up after about 4 hours sleep.. It's about 40 degrees & its only 8am...
-Only to find our air mattress has gone down during the night, despite patching up the hole previously found on Thursday
-Saw Shannon's butt again
-I get hit in the head with a soccer ball... twice
-A camera gets dropped on my left foot, almost breaking my toe
-We all get seriously sunburt
Sunday:
-I get woken up at 3am to re-pump the air mattress, even though we know its just going to go back down
-Heat stroke, painful sunburn... ouch, yuk, yuk
-Slice my finger open
-We arrive back home only to find it's even hotter there
So after all this you would think that upon asking me if I would ever go camping again I would slap you in the face, tell you to grow a brain & learn to read.. However that's the total opposite of the truth.
Despite all the bumps, bruises & burns it was one of the best weekends of my life.
Here's why...
-After three days I can say with confidence that my boyfriends friends are now 'our friends'
-We didn't have to be anywhere by a certain time, almost all weekend we were all totally unaware as to what time it was
-Basically technology free all weekend... It was surprisingly relaxing
-No work!!
-Not only was my first trip away with my boyfriend relaxing & so much fun, it was truly memorable
& more than anything, for the entire weekend I forgot about everything back home & everything that has been worrying me.
I was enjoying myself, having fun & falling even more in love.
Can't wait till next time...
Camping is indeed great fun. You must not forget the required roll of ductape next time though. Great for fixing tent poles and air matresses alike.
